From toy to c64

found these old photos while digging through my archive.

a mod i did around 15 years ago, back when the c64 dtv had just come out. i made it usable with a ps2 keyboard and turned it into a portable system with a psone lcd.

it also has two joystick ports, and i modified the internal rom to include about 10 of my favorite games.

there were no ready-made solutions back then, everything was trial and error. the idea was to turn something that looked like a toy into an actual usable computer.

if i had a 3d printer back then, this project would have turned out very differently. but it was fun.

if i ever find the time, i might turn this into a fully 3d-printed custom c64.
time is the real problem, as always.

looking at it now, it feels simple. back then, it wasn’t.

just leaving this here. as a memory.
